Getting started
- Open Signature MCP. It lives in the menu bar (the small signature) and has no Dock icon.
- Under Connect Your AI, click Copy Setup Prompt and paste it into your AI agent. The agent adds Signature MCP to its own settings.
- Click Try It to see the signature window, or ask your AI to have a document signed.
Common questions
Which AI apps work with Signature MCP?
Any app that supports MCP servers (Model Context Protocol). Agents that can edit their own settings, such as coding agents, set themselves up from the setup prompt. For other apps, open Manual Setup, pick your app and click Copy Settings.
Can my AI sign something without me?
No. Every request opens a window on your Mac. You draw the signature each time and click Sign. Nothing is stored for reuse, and if you cancel, your AI is told you didn't sign.
How do I sign with the trackpad?
Click the signature pad, or Use Trackpad. The pointer is hidden and held still, and the whole trackpad becomes the pad: touch it with one finger and write, without pressing. Press any key when you're done. You can also draw with the mouse.
How do I sign for my company?
Open Company Signature in the panel and enter the lines that should stand under your signature, for example your name, role and company. You can also choose an image of your company stamp; a white background is removed. When your AI asks for a company signature, the window shows both with a checkbox, and you can untick either one.
What happens to my signature?
It's turned into an image, or written into the PDF, and handed to your AI app as a temporary file. The file is deleted after ten minutes, when your AI says it's done, and when you quit Signature MCP. Your company stamp stays in the app; your AI only gets a temporary copy after you approve.
Is the signature legally valid?
A signature drawn in Signature MCP is a simple electronic signature, which is accepted for many everyday documents. Some documents need a handwritten or a qualified electronic signature instead, and a company stamp has no legal force of its own. Signature MCP doesn't check who signs and gives no legal advice; check what your document requires.
Troubleshooting
My AI says it isn't allowed to sign
Some AI apps don't start actions like signing a document on their own judgment, even though Signature MCP asks you in a window. Either allow the Signature MCP tools in your AI app's permission settings, or switch it to a mode that asks you before each tool call and approve the request there.
My AI says it can't read or find the file
Signature MCP is sandboxed and can't open files in your AI app's folders. Your AI copies the document into Signature MCP's inbox folder first; the tools tell it where that is. macOS may ask once whether your AI app may access data from other apps. Allow it, or the hand-over can't work.
My AI says it can't reach Signature MCP
- Check that Signature MCP is running: its icon is in the menu bar and the panel says Ready for your AI.
- Restart your AI app, or reload its MCP servers, after changing its settings or after updating Signature MCP.
The pointer is gone
You're in trackpad signing. Press any key to get the pointer back. It also comes back by itself after a few seconds without a touch on the trackpad.
A PDF can't be signed
Password-protected PDFs can't be shown or signed; use a copy without the password. Signing redraws the pages, so fillable form fields become fixed content, and an existing digital signature in the PDF is no longer valid afterwards.
